La música ayuda a desarrollar el habla!!
Las personas que reciben formación musical desarrollan unas mayores capacidades para procesar los estímulos visuales y auditivos lo que repercute en unas mejores habilidades de comunicación.
Investigadores de la Universidad de Northwestern en Illinois hallaron que el entrenamiento musical, que estimula regiones corticales de nuestro cerebro, se extiende hasta regiones subcorticales desarrollando áreas sensoriales y generalizándose al procesamiento del lenguaje hablado.
En el estudio participaron personas con distintos niveles de entrenamiento musical y un grupo control sin conocimientos en la materia. Los científicos midieron las respuestas cerebrales ante estímulos de audio y vídeo y encontraron que el número de años de práctica musical estaba altamente relacionado con el nivel de codificación de sonidos básicos.
El artículo publicado en la revista Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concluye que los músicos procesaban mucho mejor la información audiovisual y que eran más sensibles a cambios sutiles tanto en el habla como en sonidos musicales. El estudio demuestra que el procesamiento cognitivo estimulado por la música afecta positivamente al circuito sensorial que influye en un mejor desarrollo del lenguaje.
La música y su poder curativo...
Una vez más se demuestra el poder de la música en el desarrollo neuronal. Recientemente se ha estudiado su efecto en la recuperación del deterioro cognitivo de pacientes que sufrieron un ataque de apoplejía. Resultados anteriores demostraron la capacidad de la estimulación musical para ayudar a recuperar los daños en animales que habían sufrido un ataque cerebral. Las investigaciones en humanos apuntan en la misma dirección.
Según la Wikipedia, se denomina apoplejía, golpe o ictus apopléjico, ataque cerebral o accidente cerebro vascular (ACV) a la suspensión de alguna de las funciones cerebrales (pérdida de la conciencia o del movimiento o del habla) debida a una brusca disminución de la circulación de la sangre en el cerebro. La disminución del flujo sanguíneo provoca la muerte de células por la falta de oxígeno, lo que causa distintos deterioros cognitivos dependiendo de la zona del cerebro afectada.
Científicos de la Universidad de Helsinki en Finlandia investigaron un grupo de 60 pacientes que habían sufrido diferentes daños cerebrales a raíz de una apoplejía de la arteria cerebral media. Dividieron la muestra en tres grupos. En el primero de ellos oían la música que ellos querían durante dos horas, en el segundo escuchaban durante el mismo tiempo textos leídos (narraciones, poemas, etc.) y en el tercer grupo no escuchaban nada.
Los resultados del estudio revelaron que de los 45 pacientes que finalizaron, los del grupo que escuchaba música mostraron una recuperación mayor que los otros grupos en la memoria verbal y la atención focalizada. Por otra parte, el grupo que escuchaba música mostró un mejor estado de ánimo que los del grupo control.
Los autores de la investigación publicada en la revista "Brain" discuten las posibles causas del beneficio de la música en la recuperación de pacientes de apoplejía. Según ellos, la música podría incidir directamente sobre las áreas cerebrales dañadas o bien estimular mecanismos generales capaces de reparar y renovar las redes neuronales tras el daño.
